Home state hero John Daly II claims the 119th Southern Amateur Championship!
JOHNSON, AR (July 19, 2025) - The 119th Southern Amateur Championship, one of the most prestigious events on the amateur golf calendar, concluded July 16-19, 2025, at Blessings Golf Club in Johnson, Arkansas.
John Daly II of Dardanelle, Arkansas, claimed the George W. Adair Trophy with a composed final round of 4‑under‑par 68. His 72‑hole total of 10‑under‑par 278 earned him a convincing five-shot victory, marking his biggest win at the amateur level. The University of Arkansas rising senior closed with rounds of 70‑71‑69‑68 on one of the most challenging courses in the state. Daly’s birdies on holes 16 and 17 sealed the championship and etched his name alongside legends such as Bobby Jones, Justin Leonard, and Webb Simpson.
Arkansas native Thomas Curry of Texarkana delivered a strong performance throughout the week. Curry tied for third place with a 3‑under‑par total of 285, securing a top‑tier finish among a highly competitive field.
Mitchell Ford of Little Rock made his mark by comfortably making the cut and finishing tied for 17th overall. He posted a four‑under‑par 140 through the first two rounds, safely advancing to the weekend. His steady play throughout positioned him ahead of many accomplished competitors.
Blessings Golf Club, hosting the Southern Amateur for the first time, welcomed 156 highly ranked amateurs from more than 33 states and 11 countries. The firm fairways, swirling winds, and demanding greens challenged the field each day, reflecting the quality of tournament preparation and community volunteerism.

Thomas Curry’s top-five finish reinforced the depth of Razorback talent, and Mitchell Ford’s weekend play demonstrated grit and consistency.
