Two Arkansas Junior Amateur Champions were crowned at Desoto Golf Course in Hot Springs Village.
Following a 2 hour and 45-minute rain delay, Mackenzie Lee, of North Little Rock, took home the girls trophy after shooting scores of 73 and 72. Lee had a three-shot lead going into the final round over Grace Kilcrease, of Springdale. Kilcrease shot 71 on the final day of the tournament making her the only female to shoot under par for around. However, Lee’s final round 72, was enough to hold off Kilcrease, and the rest of the field, making her the girls 2020 Junior Amateur champion. Lee also won the event back in 2018.
As for the boys, it was a battle to the end for Fayetteville natives Palmer McSpadden and Rhett South. South had a one-shot lead at the par-five, 16th before McSpadden chipped in for Eagle from the frontside bunker giving him the lead. McSpadden would not relinquish that lead, finishing with a final round of 69. McSpadden finished the tournament 5 under par and took home his first Junior Amateur title.
