MAUMELLE, Ark. July 21 - The Maumelle classic has come to an end and a former champion has once again been crowned.

Stafford Gray, who has previously won the classic twice, dominated the field, posting an impressive 11-under-par (70,68,67). Gray held a comfortable lead through most of the final round. For good measure, he had three birdies in his last four holes.

It was a historical performance at the classic as Stafford's second-to-last putt gave him a chance to break the all-time tournament low record. It was not to be though, as he missed the putt, tying the record low (205). He would make the next putt to secure his third Maumelle green jacket. Gray joins Danny Green as the only other three-time winner of the classic. He also joins the most famous Arkansas golfer, John Daly, who won in 1987.

The best golfers in the state have played and won at Maumelle Country Club and Stafford Gray for the third time proves that he is a part of that conversation.
