ASGA Announces New Qualifying Criteria for 2025 State Amateur Championship

The Arkansas State Golf Association is proud to announce an exciting new chapter for the prestigious Arkansas State Amateur that will be held June 12th - 14th and the Country Club of Little Rock. In an effort to elevate the level of competition and recognize the state's top golfers, the 2025 State Amateur Championship will transition from an open-entry format to a qualification based entry process.

The new qualification criteria are designed to ensure that the field for the 2025 championship includes the best amateur players in the state. The categories of exemption for those to bypass qualifying are as follows:

2025 State Amateur Exemption Categories

Men’s Exemptions:

Players meeting the following criteria are exempt from qualifying:

  1. Past Amateur Champions under the age of 60
  2. Top 10 in the Simmons Bank Player of the Year points list through the HSCC Classic
  3. Top 2 in the Simmons Bank Mid-Amateur Player of the Year points list through the HSCC Classic
  4. Top 2 in the Simmons Bank Senior Player of the Year points list through the HSCC Classic
  5. Top 35 finishers from the 2024 State Amateur
  6. Top 2 from the 2024 Divisional Championship Mid-Am Division
  7. Top 5 from the 2024 Divisional Championship Senior Division
  8. Top 3 from the 2024 Junior Amateur
  9. Low Arkansan in the 2024 Maumelle Classic
  10. Three Host Club Exemptions

Arkansas Women’s State Amateur Championship – Eligibility Requirements

The Arkansas Women’s State Amateur Championship is open to all female golfers who meet the following eligibility criteria:

  • Field is limited 30 participants
  • Must be a resident of the state of Arkansas or be an active member at an ASGA Member Club.
  • Student-athletes who are currently enrolled at an in-state university are also eligible to compete, regardless of permanent residency.

All participants must adhere to the Arkansas State Golf Association’s competition policies and entry requirements.

Why the Change?

By implementing qualification-based entry criteria, the ASGA aims to create an even more rewarding and competitive championship experience. This approach will bring together the finest golfers from Arkansas while maintaining the tradition and prestige of the State Amateur.

How to play the State AM if you do not fall under the exemption criteria

The good news for those who do not meet the exemption criteria to bypass qualifying, there still is a path to compete in the State Amateur. The ASGA will conduct two separate 18 hole qualifiers to fill the remaining spots of the field. The qualifying dates are:

  • June 2nd - Lost Springs Golf and Athletic Club, Rogers, AR
  • June 9th - Burns Park Golf Course (Championship) North Little Rock, AR
