Razorback Named to USGA’s Curtis Cup Team

Razorback sophomore Emily Tubert was one of the final three players named to United States team in the 2012  Curtis Cup to be played June 8-10 at The Nairn Golf Club in Scotland.  Tubert, 19, of Burbank, Calif. won the 2010 USGA Public Links Championship and won three tournaments her freshman season earning first-team All America honors.  For the USGA Press release, click here: FINAL THREE PLAYERS NAMED TO 2012 USA CURTIS CUP TEAM

Hargraves is 8th Ranked Senior in U.S.

Bev Hargraves of Helena, Ark. finished 2011 as the 8th ranked senior amateur in the United States with 2,685 points, according to Golfweek’s ranking system:

Stan Lee of Heber Springs is ranked #21 with 1,750 and younger brother Louis Lee, is 30th with 1,600 points for winning the USGA Senior Amateur at Kinloch GC in Virginia.  Chip Lutz of Reading, PA is ranked #1 with 6,550 points.

 

Bev Hargraves Wins Golfweek Senior @ Doral

Golfweek Senior Tour Championship: Hargraves wins easily published 06 Dec 2011 MIAMI, Fla. (Dec. 6, 2011) — Bev Hargraves went wire-to-wire, taking a six-shot victory at the 2011 Golfweek Senior Tour Championship at Doral Golf Resort & Spa. Leading after the first round, Hargraves never looked back, finishing with a solid 73 in the final round. Ron Carter jumped all the way to second place with a final-round 71 while Jim Anthony and James Castagna finished in a third-place tie.

The Alotian to Host 2013 Western Amateur

The Alotian Club in Roland, Ark., just west of Little Rock, will host the 2013 Western Amateur Championship July 29 – August 3, announced today by Warren Stephens, CEO of The Alotian.  Arguably one of the top three amateur tournaments in the United States, the Western Amateur will bring an international field of talent to the state of Arkansas for the first time.  The Western Am was played at Memphis CC in 1920 and 1933, the closest sites to the Natural State.  The first tournament was held in 1899; Razorback Senior Ethan Tracy of Hilliard, OH won the 2011 Western Amateur at North Shore CC near Chicago.

Flooding Hits Natural State

Reports of portions of I-30 between Little Rock and Benton under water and closed…traffic is down to one lane open in each direction with traffic backed up for miles…

Efren Gonzalez, assistant superintendent at Hurricane C.C. in Bryant, posted this photo of #9 on his Facebook page this morning…the fairway is completely underwater as Hurricane CC is just off I-30 between Little Rock and Benton.  Total rainfall by tomorrow is expected to be possibly 6-7 inches in the greater Little Rock area…safe travels as you visit your families for Thanksgiving!

Captain’s Email Propels PGA Chapter to Win Randy Beaver Cup in Record Fashion

Barry Howard, PGA Chapter Playing Captain and host professional for the 2nd Annual Randy Beaver Cup Matches, sent a simple email to the Professional Team Saturday night before Sunday’s Singles Matches: “Let’s give it all we have tomorrow.  We need 10 1/2 points.  No regrets.”  These inspirational words and outstanding play with a 12-4 win in Singles Matches led the PGA Team to its second consecutive victory, this time 17 1/2 to 14 1/2 after a 20-12 win last year. The ASGA Golf Awards Banquet tonight at 6:30 p.m. at Pleasant Valley C.C. is officially “sold-out” with only one or two single seats remaining…

Hall of Fame Inductees are Randy Beaver & Tom Raney.  PGA Chapter Award Winners: Tom Cannarozzo, Player of the Year & Barry Howard, Professional of the Year.  ASGA Players of the Year: Kaylee Benton – Junior Girls; Taylor Fisher – Women; Jean Mowry – Women’s Senior; Brian Belz – Junior Boys; Nicklaus Benton – Amateur; Glen Talbert – Super-Senior; Tracy Harris – Mid-Senior & Stan Lee – Senior.  Louis Lee will also be recognized as the 2011 USGA Senior Amateur Champion.

Pros Battle Ams in 2nd Annual Randy Beaver Cup

Sixteen professionals representing the Arkansas PGA Chapter square off against 16 amateurs representing the ASGA at the 2nd Annual Randy Beaver Cup October 29-30 at Hot Springs Country Club (Park Course).  The pros hold the Cup after winning last year 20-12 in four-ball, foursomes and singles match play.  The amateurs have won 12 of the past 14 and lead the overall series 25-11 as this season-ending competition began in 1975 with the pros winning 8-7.  Pairings for Four-Ball & Foursomes, Rules Sheet and other info and the press release, click the links below:
